The Philadelphia Eagles are off to a 6-2 start to begin the 2025 NFL season, and they have a firm grip on the race for the NFC East title. It's safe to say, however, that the team is far from their standard of being Super Bowl favorites, so some changes are surely in order.
With the November 4 trade deadline approaching, many would expect a contending team like the Eagles to be buyers. But Philadelphia actually has a rare opportunity to be a seller at the deadline as well, with a bit of addition by subtraction.
Cornerback Kelee Ringo has been abysmal for the Eagles' secondary this season, and the writing is on the wall for him to potentially be moved. One contending AFC team just suffered a devastating injury at cornerback, so they could be in the market for a cheap player on a rookie deal like Ringo.
Broncos could shop for CBs like Eagles' Kelee Ringo after Pat Surtain injury
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Denver Broncos star cornerback Patrick Surtain II is week-to-week with a pectoral strain, and he could even be placed on the Injured Reserve. This is bad news for the Broncos, as they're now missing the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
Denver smartly invested a first-round pick this year into cornerback Jahdae Barron, who is expected to replace Surtain in the starting lineup. The only problem is that Barron has only played 11 snaps out wide this season, as he primarily does his work in the slot.
If they wanted to send a seventh-round pick to Philadelphia for Ringo, it would be a cheap venture for the Broncos, and they wouldn't have to throw their rookie so far into the deep end. At the very worst, Ringo would provide depth for a cornerback room in Denver that now has only four healthy players.
With Jakorian Bennett returning from injury, the odds of Ringo or veteran Adoree' Jackson playing a significant role should be slim to none. The Eagles could capitalize on Ringo now being even more expendable by trying to stoke a trade with a team that could be looking for a quick and cheap fix.
The Broncos aren't known to be big buyers at the trade deadline, but they currently own a one-game lead over both the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers for the AFC West crown. With the window cracked open, they don't want to squander this rare opportunity.

Philadelphia would be fine without Ringo, and it may give the Broncos, at worst, some peace of mind knowing that they have at least another option on the roster who has played significant reps on the outside at the NFL level, at least until Surtain returns.
