Bears place rookie second-round pick on season-ending Ir, activate De Austin Booker

The Chicago Bears are coming off an ugly 30-16 loss to a struggling Baltimore Ravens team that was led by backup QB Tyler Huntley.

Chicago struggled to generate offense in the loss, reaching the end zone only once on a goal-line touchdown in the fourth quarter by RB D'Andre Swift. The defense wasn't very successful either, giving up 177 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to the Ravens.

As the Bears look to turn things around in Week 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals, the team announced several roster moves, including confirmation that their 2025 second-round pick will miss the rest of the season.

Bears place DT Shemar Turner on season-ending IR, activate DE Austin Booker

According to The Athletic's Kevin Fishbain, the Bears placed DT Shemar Turner on IR after he suffered a torn ACL in the Week 8 loss. He will miss the remainder of the 2025 season.

Turner, 22, will finish his first season in the NFL with six total tackles in five games played.

Fishbain also mentioned that Chicago activated DE Austin Booker from the IR after he missed the first seven games of the season with a knee injury he sustained in the preseason.

Booker, 22, was drafted in the fifth round (144th overall) by the Bears in the 2024 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he appeared in all 17 games for Chicago, tallying 21 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. He will look to add depth to the defensive line after losing Shemar Turner for the season.
