The New York Knicks have listed Miles McBride as OUT for tonight’s matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks due to personal reasons. Many have speculated that his absence is related to the recent birth of his daughter, as he’s taking time away from the team to spend time with his family.
McBride’s absence was felt Sunday night in the Knicks’ 107–115 loss to the Miami Heat, where the team struggled with defensive rotations in the backcourt and managed just 21 bench points. Despite the five-point improvement from their outing against the Boston Celtics, McBride played a large role in the starting lineup, while the team also maneuvered a returning Josh Hart.
The third-year guard was instrumental in New York’s first two wins of the season, delivering strong two-way performances that earned him a starting nod in their second game against the Boston Celtics. Through three games, McBride is averaging 12.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals across 29 minutes, showcasing his growth as a reliable two-way guard.
Head coach Mike Brown will likely turn to Tyler Kolek for backup point guard duties. Kolek logged five points in 10 minutes against Miami and will look to make the most of his expanded role.
The Knicks also listed Guerschon Yabusele as questionable with a left knee sprain, while Mitchell Robinson will miss his fourth straight game. Karl-Anthony Towns is probable and expected to suit up in the starting lineup.
With both teams entering the matchup at 2–1, New York will be tested against one of the East’s top contenders while managing what could be its most shorthanded roster of the young season.
McBride's next opportunity to play will be Friday, October 31st, against the Chicago Bulls.
