Uncut: Ryan Day on it being personal as Jim Knowles comes back to Columbus

Throughout the year, the Land-Grant Podcast Network will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions.

On today’s episode of “Land-Grant Uncut,” we are bringing you unedited audio from Ryan Day’s Tuesday, Oct. 28 press conference from the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Coming off a bye week and heading into a matchup with Penn State on Saturday, Day had a lot to discuss, but he started his media availability by remembering two Buckeye legends, Nick Mangold and Bob Maggs.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s matchup, Day said that while Penn State hasn’t had the season that they anticipated, the Nittany Lions are still one of the most talented teams in the country, and they will be playing with nothing to lose against the Buckeyes.

The head coach discusses how Josh Padilla is faring in the offensive line rotation, the evolving philosophy around the running game, the team’s impressive APR and academic results, whether he got lost in a corn maze this weekend, and more.

And while he remains political and magnanimous, Day does say that when assistant coaches choose to leave to take jobs at OSU’s rivals, it does become a little personal; so we will see how the Buckeyes respond to having Jim Knowles back in The Horseshoe this weekend.

As always, the press conference audio supplied by Ohio State struggles when it comes to media members asking questions. However, the audio quality from the podium is crystal clear.
