Indiana Pacers Injury Report won’t stop growing

The list of Indiana Pacers that are injured may be longer than the list of healthy players on the roster soon. Rick Carlisle provided updates on many of the players on the team’s ever-expanding injury report today at practice in Dallas.

Both Bennedict Mathurin and Obi Toppin will get additional imaging done once they are back in Indianapolis but both will be out for some period of time.

Carlisle called Mathurin’s toe sprain “week to week hopefully” and said that Toppin will be out for at least a month after leaving the game against the Wolves with a sore knee. At least Mathurin is in good spirits thanks to a burgeoning Ben/n bromance with Ben Sheppard.

These two players joined Andrew Nembhard (progressing but not ready with his shoulder injury), Johnny Furphy (will get tests done once they are back in Indiana), Taelon Peter (getting better but not ready), Kam Jones, T.J. McConnell (will be re-evaluated on November 9th), and of course Tyrese Haliburton.

Quenton Jackson returned to action in the Wolves game after missing the first two games but that’s 8 of the team’s 18 players including those on 2-way contracts that are on the Pacers injury report.

The Pacers bench is starting to look like that part in Space Jam where Michael Jordan finally lets Newman get into the game.

Because of this, the team waived James Wiseman, who played just 2 games in 2 years with the Pacers including a start in the game against his hometown Grizzlies, and signed Mac McClung, most known for winning the last three dunk contests, to a multi-year deal.

“He’s healthy,” Carlisle said among other qualities about what the Pacers like about McClung. Carlisle called him an attacker and that after beating out two other players in a workout for the opening on the roster, he’ll play both guard spots for the team.

The Pacers next game is tomorrow against the Dallas Mavericks where the depth chart will be limited to the following players: Pascal Siakam, Aaron Nesmith, Jarace Walker, Ben Sheppard, RayJ Dennis, Quenton Jackson, Tony Bradley, Isaiah Jackson, Jay Huff, and Mac McClung.

This outlet will be talking about this one and the last week live after the game on PacersrecaP Live. Join us on the iPacers YouTube page.
