A footballer has suffered a fractured skull
An amateur footballer has been rushed to hospital after sustaining a fractured skull during a non-league match.
Richard Agbasoga, who works as a temporary NHS employee in his day job, reportedly suffered the injuries during a 12th-tier game in Liverpool.
Agbasoga, originally from Ghana, is not eligible for statutory sick pay due to his status as an overseas student. His team, Ormskirk West End, have launched a fundraising campaign to support him while he's unable to work during his recovery.
The Athletic reports that the 27-year-old was allegedly assaulted by individuals who invaded the pitch during a match between Ormskirk West End and Calci FC. The assailants, who are believed to have punched and kicked him in the head, were not players in the game.
The Athletic also suggests that Merseyside Police have not received a formal complaint about the incident.

At the time of the incident, Agbasoga's team were reportedly leading 2-0, and it happened just after another player had been headbutted. The match, part of the Liverpool Premier League, was subsequently halted, reports the Mirror.
The report indicates that Calci FC's games have been put on hold while they wait for the outcome of an investigation by Liverpool County FA's disciplinary department.
It's been clarified that the club itself hasn't been suspended, but upcoming fixtures have been postponed.
