The Kansas City Chiefs' 28-7 win over the Washington Commanders was a classic tale of two halves for Andy Reid's team as they moved to 5-3 on the year.
A disjointed first half that saw the Chiefs throw an interception on their first drive and followed that up with another interception on their second drive before scoring a touchdown to end the half.
However, the second half saw a different Chiefs offense emerge, and 21 unanswered points were scored as Mahomes and Co. lit up the Commanders' secondary time and time again to blow the NFC East franchise out of the water in devastating fashion.
But how were the Chiefs able to flip the script so quickly?
“When we got in the locker room, we talked about executing,” Mahomes said. “Sometimes you want to press and make stuff happen, especially on a big game like Monday Night Football, we weren't doing that. They had more energy than we did, their defense versus our offense. So, we had to match their energy and execute at a higher level.
"We were able to do that in that second half, and start off that first drive, and then we kind of continue that momentum through the rest of the second half.”

Chiefs perfect in second-half demolition of Washington
It was the Chiefs of old in the second half, with Mahomes and Reid in their bag from the first snap.
A 12-play, 65-yard touchdown drive took 4:48 off the clock, then a nine-play, 75-yard touchdown drive took 4:45 off the clock before the dagger to the Commanders came in the form of a 14-play, 119-yard touchdown drive that milked over seven minutes off the clock to put the game to bed at 28-7.
The Chiefs' first three possessions all ended in touchdowns in what was a brilliant display of efficiency after a disjointed first half from the AFC champs.
Now, the Chiefs will take that momentum into Week 9 when they travel to Highmark Stadium to take on the Buffalo Bills, and if Kansas City plays the way it did in the second half, it could be a long day for the Bills.
