The Cleveland Browns enter their bye week battered and in desperate need of a break, especially after learning that rookie running back Quinshon Judkins suffered a painful shoulder injury in their Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots. The timing of Cleveland’s week off could not be better, as Judkins’ day-to-day status now makes him the top concern for a Browns offense already searching for answers after a lopsided 32-13 defeat.

Kevin Stefanski’s Outlook on Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins left the field in the third quarter after a hard tackle, ending his day. He was checked immediately after the hit, and the follow-up reports indicated that the rookie had sprained his AC joint in his right shoulder- a diagnosis that is likely to involve recovery, but is not a threatening factor in the long run.Head coach Kevin Stefanski was optimistic following the game, informing the press that Judkins was day-to-day and that the bye week would rest and rehabilitate him so that he could suit up in Week 10.
For Cleveland, the bye comes at a very crucial time. One of the few highlights of this season has been Judkins, who is already gained 486 rushing yards and five scores in the seven games and is fast becoming the ideal replacement to Nick Chubb. He has been able to do great work even when the offense has been struggling, such as the three-touchdown game that he played last week, which was a career-high performance where the Browns defeated Miami.

The run game of the Browns stalled without Judkins against New England, and the rookie became the focus of the offense. In case Quinshon Judkins requires additional time, Jerome Ford, the veteran with rookie Dylan Sampson, will be asked to lead the backfield, but neither has had the same impactful play as Judkins has thus far.Hopefully, the added rest will enable Judkins to avoid missing more games as the Browns look forward to a beatable defense in the New York Jets that is ranked near the bottom against the run when the game resumes in Week 10.
With fans and coaches waiting for Cleveland to receive their first reports on the injuries after the bye, there is still hope that Quinshon Judkins will recover by Week 10. Hopefully healthy enough for a second-half turnaround for the Browns’ season.
