During the Chiefs’ dominant victory on “Monday Night Football,” it was announced that Mahomes’ 46th game with three touchdowns now matches that of Marino in the first nine seasons of his career.
Touchdownwire broke down the possibility, stating, “…On Monday Night Football, with another 3 TD passes, he [Mahomes] would tie Pro Football Hall of Famer Dan Marino for the most such games in a player’s first nine seasons in the NFL.

That is exactly what transpired on “Monday Night Football,” as Mahomes threw three touchdowns and 299 yards en route to tying Marino. To make the night even more special, the star Chiefs signal caller also surpassed 40,000 passing yards.
Mahomes’ passing 40,000 yards in his first nine seasons in the NFL places him next to only one other legendary quarterback who has accomplished that feat: Peyton Manning.
The 40,000 passing yards include the playoffs, but Mahomes is now next to Manning in that NFL feat.
Simply put, Mahomes continues to show why the Chiefs can never be counted out of the conversation of Super Bowl favorites. After a 0-2 start, the team has rattled off five wins in their last six games.
The Chiefs sit at 5-3 on the season, and are in a prime position to not only overtake the AFC West, but to challenge the upper-echelon AFC teams for the conference crown.
Kansas City has a tough test in the next two weeks as they will face the 5-2 Buffalo Bills and the 6-2 Denver Broncos. Should the Chiefs win both games, they will likely sit firmly at the top of the conversation for which AFC team is truly the real deal.
