'What a player': Adams praises Kroupi's mentality - “his ceiling is really high”

The young French striker arrived in Bournemouth in the summer having joined the club back in January, although he was loaned back to Black Knight stablemate Lorient for the remainder of the Ligue 2 season.

It was a fruitful campaign for the forward in France – helping Lorient to promotion, scoring 22 goals in 30 games for the club on their way to the title.

He has hit the ground running in Bournemouth, too, scoring four league goals in six league appearances.

Three of those have come in the past two games – the only two matches he has started in the league – while his first goal for the club rescued a point in stoppage time at Leeds.

In fact, Kroupi is averaging a goal every 41 minutes in the Premier League, and his 27 goals since the start of last season is the most for any player aged under 20 in Europe.

Adams has started every game in the league so far, and he heaped praise on his young teammate.

“Kroupi, what a player,” he said.

“For such a young age, his mentality to go out there every single week, just improve, do all the right things.

“And you can see his quality. It's special. So, I think we got to keep him humble, keep him working, but he's a special player.”

Asked about how the team goes about keeping the 19-year-old humble, Adams laughed and said: “He's a humble kid. I'm just joking when I say that.

“But to be fair, his mentality, when he wasn't playing, for a young kid to just come into training every single day, do all the right things, take every single chance like he's going to work and start every single weekend.

“That's the mentality you need as a young player. And it's so important. I think you see players get lost when they finally sign that big contract, so to speak, and they could start to do the wrong things and it slips away.

“But for him, he's going with the mentality every single week. And we just have such a good team, such a good group of players that we continue to push him.

“His ceiling is really high.”
