"This is a great quality": Iraola on 'focused' Milosavljevic in Forest win

The young centre back started in place of Bafode Diakite and he was excellent, keeping Igor Jesus very quiet in the first half.

He then matched Taiwo Awoniyi’s physicality in the second half, the substitute thrown on at the break to try to make something happen for the visitors.

But Milosavljevic was more than a match for anything Forest threw at him and the Cherries defence, and he helped Bournemouth to a clean sheet in his second league start for the side.

Asked about Milosavljevic’s performance, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “He plays very focused. You can feel he speaks a lot with the teammates. He doesn't relax in any moment of the game.

“This is a great quality to have as a centre back.

“He also was good I think on the ball. I think we moved the ball quite quickly in our build up. We were quite solid. We had one or two situations at the end with Alex [Jimenez].

“But most of the time I think the ball has come quite clean to the last third. And he's also important because of this.”

Forest are a tall team and Milosavljevic is the tallest defender at Iraola’s disposal.

Asked if this was the main thought behind starting the Serbian, Iraola explained: “I think when you take a decision there are a lot of [factors].

“It's not because one thing, there is a lot of things. The most important thing is that Veljko is training very well. He's pushing us a lot. Every chance we've given him to play has been really good.

“Bafo is also doing it very well. And it's getting difficult for me sometimes to get the selection and the starting 11 even to make the squad.

“I've had to leave players that I trust 100 per cent out. That is very difficult. But right now we only have Evanilson out and I hope we can even have him for next week.

“This means that you have to take difficult selections.”
