'Surreal' for Jones to see Cherries' journey in nine years at club

ABBY Jones admitted it was ‘surreal’ to see how far the [Cherries](http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/cherries/clubnews/?ref=au) have come in the nine years she has been with the club.

The 22-year-old skipper first joined AFC Bournemouth as a 13-year-old, and moved into the first team when she was just 16.

She has been a part of a meteoric rise to the third tier of the women’s game, with the women’s team developing hugely in that time.

Jones told the Daily Echo: “It's crazy to think nine years ago I started when I was 13 and as soon as I turned 16 I went into the women's team, and I think that's such a surreal moment for me to know that I'm still here nine years later.

“And I think seeing the development of the team, I remember when we used to borrow kit from the men's team and now we get given it.

“We're so lucky to be able to use this performance centre as well, where we train, have such good access to so many different things to help us out.

“It's just helped us develop as a team even further.”
