Five Man United players have picked up yellow cards so far this season in the Premier League.

Man United, unfortunately, gave themselves the chance to focus on the Premier League this season by not qualifying for European football this season. However, it is beginning to go well for Ruben Amorim’s side as they have won their last three league games, including the recent 4-2 win against Brighton.

Amorim has found a consistent starting XI now, with his back three, wing-back combination and the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in midfield. Furthermore, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo are really beginning to gain some chemistry in Amorim’s attack too.

However, there is a concern for Amorim as five of his players have been shown yellow cards so far this season, and all five risk getting Premier League suspensions if they aren’t careful.

The five Man United players at risk of suspension

The rule with yellow cards in the Premier League is that if a player receives five in the first 19 games of the season, they will be handed a one-match ban. So far, five United players have been shown at least one yellow card, and they could all be banned if they continue to commit card-worthy fouls.

The most at-risk players are Casemiro and Patrick Dorgu, who have accumulated three yellow cards each in the Premier League this season. Casemiro also has a red card, which he already served a ban for earlier in the year after being shown a red against Chelsea in September. Dorgu picked up a third yellow card against Brighton, and he is nearing a suspension if he were to get just two more.

In terms of other United players, Bruno Fernandes has two yellow cards, and he would be a huge loss even just for one match if he were to pick up three more. Amad Diallo and Benjamin Sesko both have one yellow card, with Sesko picking his up over the weekend against Brighton.

Which fixtures could the banned United players miss?

Let’s assume that over the next month, both Casemiro and Patrick Dorgu pick up two more yellow cards, and subsequently a suspension from one game, it could come at a really bad time for the Red Devils.

Key fixtures coming up that the duo could be banned from include Crystal Palace on November 30, second-placed Bournemouth on 13 December, in-form Aston Villa on 21 December, and Newcastle United on 27 December.

If the duo were to miss those games it could be a big loss for Ruben Amorim, especially considering that the likes of Amad Diallo, Noussair Mazraoui and Bryan Mbeumo won’t be available from 21 December onwards because of the Africa Cup of Nations running until late January. There could be several selection headaches for Amorim if suspensions begin to hit at Old Trafford.
