The clause Ineos decided not to include in Jadon Sancho loan deal looks like a stroke of genius

Jadon Sancho is Aston Villa’s problem and that won’t be changing, thankfully for Manchester United.

United In Focus revealed back in June that Jadon Sancho was keen on a move to Aston Villa, after his permanent move to Chelsea collapsed.

Sancho only got his move after talks between Villa and United stepped up on transfer deadline day.

After becoming a major flop at Manchester United since his move from Borussia Dortmund, he is continuing in the same fashion for Aston Villa so far.

Sancho has failed to earn a Premier League start for Villa, and at the weekend he suffered the humiliation of being substituted, after coming off the bench in the first half.

No Sancho break clause

Manchester United’s worst ever signing, Jadon Sancho would have been released by now if circumstances allowed it.

As it is, Sancho’s contract expires in 2026 and the loan to Aston Villa is just killing time until his deal runs out.

While Sancho has talent, he lacks the speed and physicality to be a success in English football, and most of all he lacks the heart and fight to apply himself on a consistent basis.

This is a player who quit on his team in 2023 and has not played for Manchester United since, despite Erik ten Hag giving him two months off in late 2022, after he failed to make the World Cup squad.

Sancho’s struggles at Aston Villa are not surprising at all – but do not worry about him potentially being sent back to Manchester United.

The Mail report that there is no break clause in the loan deal Manchester United negotiated with Aston Villa.

Ineos ensured there was no ‘get out’ for Aston Villa, per the terms of the loan deal agreed, which will see Sancho spend the entire season there.

It is another welcome move from Ineos, a stroke of genius to ensure that the hapless winger is not dumped back at Carrington midseason.

United disappointed with Sancho

Manchester United approach every transfer deal with optimism, and there was hope that ideally, Jadon Sancho could go to Aston Villa and perform well.

United hoped that he would play so well, that Villa would be banging on United’s door in January trying to secure a permanent deal – to beat a rush of clubs attempting to sign him on a free transfer next summer.

Instead, United have been disappointed with Sancho’s struggles so far, let down one more time.

But with no break clause in the deal, there is the consolation that Villa can’t send him back. It is up to them to try and get the best out of him and keep him engaged.
