Brazilian journalist [**Jorge Nicola**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HeXmc4jKxU) has once again dismissed talk of Wolves’ Jhon Arias returning to Brazil. There’s been growing speculation about a potential move to [**Flamengo**](https://sportwitness.co.uk/wolves-winger-willing-to-leave-journalist-reveals-local-interest-amid-poor-form/).
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Nicola said that, for now, “there isn’t even a conversation” between the clubs. The Colombian winger remains fully focused on his Premier League adventure with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
According to Nicola, Arias was so determined to play in Europe that he accepted a much lower salary to leave Fluminense for Wolves, turning down more lucrative offers elsewhere.
He described the player as “obsessed” with playing in the Premier League. The journalist stressed that the 28-year-old has no plans to leave England in the short term.
The journalist did, however, leave what he called a word of caution for the months ahead. With Wolves bottom of the table after nine matches, he said that a possible relegation could change Arias’ situation. _“It’s hard to imagine Arias, who cost €17m and has a relatively high salary, staying in the Championship.”_
Nicola reminded viewers that Arias’ contract with Wolves runs until June 2029, and that the club still value him at around €17m, the same fee they paid to Fluminense earlier this year.
While Flamengo have reportedly been linked with the player again, Nicola made it clear that the Brazilian side “haven’t even discussed” a move internally, and that any scenario involving Arias leaving England would only become plausible from July next year onwards.
