Josuha Guilavogui says he’s pleased he was part of the Leeds United success last season.
The Whites released the 35-year-old at the end of the season and he’s still not found a new club. Earlier this month, the midfielder was philosophical about his short spell at Leeds United.
Guilavogui has now given an interview to Canal+ and Girondins 4 Ever have relayed his comments about Leeds United.
He left 1. FSV Mainz 05 after the 2024/25 season and Leeds United signed him for free in October 2024. Daniel Farke only used him as a substitute in the league as he was limited to 57 minutes from 16 Championship matches.
Leeds United and Burnley both finished with 100 points last season. The Whites won the Championship on goal difference. Despite a restricted role, the Frenchman is clearly happy with his contribution to the Whites.
“I’m very happy with my last season at Leeds, where we were able to achieve something historic by winning the league at the last minute,” he said.
“We know that Leeds is a historic club, normally in the Premier League, but they’ve struggled a lot over the past two years to get back into the game. I’m still living a bit on cloud nine.”
Since leaving Leeds United, he had opportunities to find another club last summer. The player makes it clear he hasn’t retired yet and is still waiting to find the club that suits him.
“I had quite a few opportunities this summer, but I haven’t found the right challenge yet,” Guilavogui explained.
“I’m keeping fit, waiting for something to happen… I’m not retired yet, no [smiles]. It’s already good; my career is a dream come true; we’ll see if there’s a sequel or not.”
