Brighton are keeping an eye on Palmeiras midfielder Allan Elias, one of the most promising players to come from the club’s academy in recent years.
According to ESPN Brazil, Zenit made an offer worth €15m (£12.6m), plus €5m (£4.2m) in bonuses, to sign the 21-year-old. Palmeiras quickly rejected the proposal.
The Seagulls have not yet made a formal approach, but the midfielder is reportedly already is on their scouting list.
The Brazilian side currently lead the league and are also preparing for a Copa Libertadores semi-final against LDU Quito, so selling one of their key young players was never on the table.
Elias has become an important part of manager Abel Ferreira’s squad, performing multiple roles on the pitch. He has 47 appearances this year and has been described as a “12th player” by the Portuguese coach.
“Allan gives us many options. He can play inside or wide. And his reading of the game is excellent,” Ferreira said in a recent press conference.
Palmeiras believe Allan’s value could soon double, expecting a fee closer to €30m (£25m) if he continues to grow in importance.
His ability to adapt across different positions and his strong technique make him a natural match for Brighton’s recruitment strategy.
