CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns (2-6) have a bye this week to try to get their offense — which is near the bottom of the league in scoring — pulling its own weight to complement the defense’s effort, which is among the league’s best.
The Browns come out of the bye against the New York Jets (1-7) and face what many believe is a slightly easier schedule the rest of the way. Still the Browns will probably need to go 7-2 in the last nine games to have a shot at making the playoffs with a 9-8 record.
Here are two questions that, depending how they are answered, could decide how the second half of the season goes. Will the Browns give rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders a shot to energize the offense? No, at least not at first. Will coach Kevin Stefanski transfer the play-calling to offensive coordinator Tommy Rees? Maybe.
