Dimitar Berbatov has told Benjamin Sesko to get nasty if he wants to start scoring goals regularly at Manchester United - insisting he needs to be more demanding about the service he's receiving.
The Slovenian was the club's most expensive summer signing, joining from RB Leipzig for £74million, but has endured a mixed start to life at Old Trafford. He is playing in a team that struggled in the opening weeks of the season, which didn't help his cause.
Sesko's goal return has been a concern though with the 22-year-old only scoring twice in 10 outings thus far. His first strike came in the loss at Brentford before he notched against Sunderland the following week.
More was expected though of the frontman, who has been hailed among the best young strikers in Europe, and Berbatov believes he needs to be more aggressive when it comes to demanding the ball.
The Bulgarian was a Golden Boot winner during his time in Manchester and claims Sesko doesn't need to be "polite and best friends and buddies" with his team-mates if he's not getting the ball in scoring positions.
Berbatov issued his advice to the Slovenian when asked on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast: "Be confident in yourself. Be arrogant in a way that you demand the ball from your team-mates when you make the run - and when you make a good run, if the ball doesn’t come for you, say it or express it in a way that your teammates will understand that, ‘I am here. I’m making the run for you. Respect my run. Not every time but try to see me and believe in what I can do with that run’.
"Sometimes be angry. Scream, swear at him, whatever. [It’s] not personal. Just in a way that I’m here, man. That’s why I’m here. Just give me the ball. Pass to me. I will try to score for you.

"Half-time, before and after the game, speak. Sometimes I think the players need to be more aggressive and emotional, in a way like, ‘Pass me the damn ball, man!"
United have trusted Sesko to lead their line after seeing several of their former strikers struggle to deal with the expectation. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both found it difficult to deliver last term, forcing United into the market.
Ruben Amorim has eased Sesko into the fold, often leaving him on the bench and introducing him in the second-half, and he's confident the striker will come good.
