Chelsea in mix to sign erratic 23-year-old – Needs some improvement

Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki has been getting a lot of attention in Italy over the past few weeks. Chelsea are one of the clubs to have been linked with a move for the Japan international.

Uncertainty about the 23-year-old’s future is now rising.

Tuttomercatoweb’s Nicolo Ceccarini has taken a closer look, noting that a host of clubs are keeping an eye on the player.

The journalist claims, relayed by MilanNews, that Chelsea are one of the clubs interested. AC Milan and Inter Milan are also in the race, as they could need a new goalkeeper next summer.

This is causing worry at Parma. They are increasingly aware that it will be difficult to keep the player beyond this season.

The Italian club’s demands for Suzuki are yet to be ascertained. They signed him from Sint-Truiden in 2024 for a fee of €10m.

There have been suggestions he has a hefty release clause in his contract but no confirmations have arrived.

So far this season, Suzuki has played ten times in all competitions for Parma. Last season, he missed only a single Serie A game. He’s come up with important performances but has also shown signs of inconsistency. That is something Chelsea will have to be aware of, if they sign the goalkeeper.
