Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo crushes Knicks then dismantles trade rumors

Earlier this October, ESPN ran an article reporting that Milwaukee Bucks superstar forward Gianni Antetokounmpo had an interest in playing for the New York Knicks. While Antetokounmpo has not explicitly aksed for a trade to get him out of Milwaukee, he’s dropped some hints about it.

On Tuesday night, trade rumors linking Antetokounmpo to the Knicks started to percolate anew. After all, the Knicks were in Milwaukee to face Antetokounmpo and the only team he’s played for so far in his NBA career.

But after the game, Antetokounmpo left no doubt about where he stands on such rumors.

“I don’t remember that,” Antetokounmpo said when asked about the ESPN article (h/t Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel).

“Right now I’m here representing my team and that’s it. We beat the Knicks. So it doesn’t really matter. What matters right now is we have a game in two days against Golden State. Try to stay locked in and get two in a row. But I didn’t read that article. I try to stay away from all that rumors, how do you call it, speculations and trade and all this. That doesn’t concern me one bit. I try to involve myself and try to help my team win games.”

Trade rumors aside, Antetokounmpo took care of business against the Knicks. He played like the player every team in the league would want on their roster, as he pummeled New York for 37 points on 16-for-22 shooting. He added eight rebounds and seven assists to show Milwaukee the way to a 121-111 win at Fiserv Forum.

The Bucks are now sitting on a 3-1 record, with the “Greek Freak” averaging 36.3 points on a 69.5 percent shooting from the field, 14.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game.
