Packers’ Micah Parsons story about near-sack against Aaron Rodgers proves why QB is 1 of 1

Last Sunday’s game between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers has people still talking about it.

With Aaron Rodgers facing the Packers, there was no shortage of drama and narrative heading into that contest. There was also Packers defensive end Micah Parsons, who was looking to help his team bottle up the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player.

In the end, Parsons and the Packers came away with a 35-25 victory at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh to improve to 5-1-1 in the 2025 NFL regular season.

Because Parsons is one of the best pass rushers of his era and Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback in the history of the NFL, seeing two players go to work last Sunday was a treat for many football fans.

Parsons really wanted to sack Rodgers, and it looked as though he was about to take the Steelers signal-caller to the ground during one play in the contest. However, Rodgers was able to throw the ball away when he sensed that Parsons was charging from behind.

After the game, the former Penn State Nittany Lions star pass rusher opened up about that play.

“The one where I was like, hawking him down, and I was like this close to getting him. He was like, ‘I heard the crowd.’ I was like, that’s some vet [expletive] right there,” Parsons said, per Dave Schroeder of WBAY-TV. “He’s great to play. And he told me to buy his house.”

Parsons only had a sack to go with a quarterback hit and a tackle against the Steelers, but he still made a lot of positive things happen for Green Bay’s defense that held Rodgers to just 219 passing yards on 23-of-36 completions. Rodgers threw for two touchdowns but was sacked three times for a loss of 17 yards.
