'A hard watch' - Albion captain has fingers crossed for Agyemang

Concerned [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/?ref=au) captain Maisie Symonds has fingers crossed for Michelle Agyemang after she was carried off in tears playing for England.

But she has stressed the club will do all they can to support her – if needed.

Agyemang, on loan to the Seagulls from Arsenal, suffered a knee injury playing for the Lionesses in their 3-0 friendly win over Australia.

She appeared to twist awkwardly or get studs caught in the turf as she challenged for a ball in the game at Derby County.

Agyemang had hands over her face as she was stretchered away following several minutes of treatment on the pitch.

Symonds was watching the game on TV and said: “It wasn’t a nice thing to see, not only my team-mate but also a very good friend of mine in pain.

“It was it was a hard watch but, of course, we're all going to try to look after her and hopefully it’s nothing too bad.

“She has a great support system with her family and with Arsenal and with us as well so, no matter what it is, we're going to do our very best to support her through it and she's still a very young player.

“She has come through lots of hard moments before already, high-pressure moments, and this is just maybe a new challenge for her but we will be there to support her.”

Albion are keeping for their return to WSL action on Sunday when they face Manchester United at Broadfield Stadium (midday).
