Luton Town – The Thoughts Of Jack – Brighton U21 (h)

After being in charge for three games now, Jack Wilshere has a record, in all competitions, of 2 wins and 1 defeat.

Two out of three isn’t bad, in my opinion.

But when it came to Jack’s post-match interview, following the 3-1 win against a Brighton U21 side, in the Vertu Trophy, it’s no surprise that the main subject of discussion was the debut of Fin Evans who, at just 16-years-of-age had a debut you can only dream about.

Fin handled himself impeccably during the 90 minutes and scored the 3rd goal, thereby becoming the youngest Luton Town player ever to score in a senior game.

His performance was that good that the youngster was also awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ award, something he’ll treasure for years to come.

After the game, and as reported by the – BBC – Jack had this to say about the debut he gave Fin Evans:

“He grew into the game, you could see at the start he was a little bit shaky, which is absolutely normal.”

Indeed, he was with Fin himself admitting, post-match,he was very nervous ahead of the game before settling into his stride.

Continuing Jack added:

“I always remember my debut at a young age and Arsene saying to me afterwards that he didn’t want to talk to me too much, he just wanted to let me play so we tried to let him do that and he was outstanding.”

He was, one Franz Beckenbauer style run showed that young Fin isn’t afraid to bring the ball out of defence, imagine if he’d have gone all the way and scored!

Continuing, Jack further added:

“I said to him after the game ‘you’ve experienced it now. League One will be a little bit harder, a little bit different but you have to use that experience to keep growing and when you come over to us next time, be a little bit better’.”

I reckon the youngster will be buoyant in training as the squad gets ready for the FA Cup 1st round tie with Forest Green Rovers on Friday evening.

I doubt whether he’ll feature on Saturday, as the Hatters chase FA Cup glory, but I’ve no doubt he’ll be there or thereabouts this season.
