[**Ellie Carpenter](https://www.vavel.com/en/football/2025/10/12/womens-football/1237345-chelsea-1-0-tottenham-walsh-wonderstrike-sits-down-dogged-spurs.html)**talked about two of her **Chelsea**teammates who played in an international friendly between **Australia**and **England**as the Lionesses wrapped up a 3-0 victory to end the break.
**Sam Kerr**was back in action for the Matildas after her lengthy layoff with injury, and she wore the armband. Her reinstallation as captain is a controversial decision in some quarters after she was found not guilty of aggravated racial harassment in an incident in 2023, but Carpenter backs the decision.
Both players will be grateful to have **Aggie Beever-Jones**back in their camp from the weekend after the striker scored the opening goal of the game on Tuesday with a free-kick, highlighting her class.
“Sam's always been our captain. She was out for a very long time. Having her present back in this squad is very important for us. You know, she's a big player. She's, you know, very important to the team. She brings a lot of experience. You know, for us, she's changed football in Australia.
“And perhaps having her on the team is a massive boost for us. Obviously, she's just coming back from a very long injury, so she's trying to find her feet, keep it going, running again. Multiple minutes here in the national team, she's probably very happy with that and hopefully can build on that.
“I think Aggie's a world-class player. I think she can play in the nine and also out wide. Yeah, I think she has every attribute of being such a world-class striker. Yeah, she's hard to defend.
*“You know, we're having a couple of jokes throughout the game. But having her obviously on my team at Chelsea, you know, a massive attribute to Chelsea and also to the England team. So, I'm happy for her that she got some more minutes tonight to show why she should be a regular starter.”*
