Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has spoken to Oliver Glasner about Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say ‘the situation is different’ regarding the England defender. To explain, that’s in reference to the situation around Dayot Upamecano.
Bayern are waiting to see if he will sign a new deal at the club. If he doesn’t, they’ll go out and spend on a replacement. But until it is clear what his intentions are, they won’t be doing anything, such as moving for Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck.
But the situation is different with Guehi. Because he is available on a free in the summer, Bayern want to move early for him. They also need to because the competition will be fierce.
They’re free to talk to him from January 1st under the Bosman ruling. But the ground work is already being laid. Sporting director Freund has even made ‘concrete enquiries’ about Guehi with his Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner regarding his player.
That comes on the back of reports that Max Eberl, Bayern’s director of sport, recently met with Guehi’s representatives in Munich.
It seems the German champions are seriously interested in the Crystal Palace star. And they’re ramping up their efforts to ensure they get him to Bavaria.
