Steelers, Bills, Broncos get positive updates from ESPN's wide receiver trade rumors

It is no secret at this point that the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos are shopping around for a wide receiver ahead of the trade deadline.

That fact was once again reiterated by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, who reports that all three teams are "believed to be in the receiver market," which is something we've heard on several occasions from different NFL insiders in recent weeks.

"Several teams are believed to be in the receiver market, most notably the Steelers and possibly the Broncos and Bills," Fowler wrote on Wednesday.

Knowing that, there's a good chance Denver, Pittsburgh and Buffalo have their eye on Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who figures to be available at the trade deadline.

On that front, Fowler reports that teams believe there's a "decent chance" Meyers is moved, and he has "possibly the best chance" of being moved out of available wideouts.

"Teams I've talked to believe that Meyers has a decent chance to be dealt -- possibly the best chance among available wide receivers. Las Vegas has received interest in the seven-year veteran, and my sense is the Raiders want a strong pick for Meyers," Fowler wrote. "A swap of Day 3 picks won't do at this stage."

Why is Jakobi Meyers on the trade block?

There are multiple reasons for the Raiders to trade Meyers.

At 2-6, the Raiders are headed for another lost season and it's clear their dreadful roster needs more building, and Las Vegas needs more picks to do that.

Meyers, 29, doesn't appear to be in the team's long-term plans after it did not sign him to an extension this offseason. The failure to do that led to Meyers requesting a trade, and the veteran wideout hasn't moved off that stance, he said recently.

"Oh, for sure," Meyers said last week when asked if he still wants to be traded, via ESPN’s Ryan McFadden. "But I'm a professional at the end of the day. I'm just trying to play good football."

Meyers is in the final year of his contract and with it looking like he's bolt in 2026, Las Vegas needs to get something for him.

Why the Steelers, Bills, Broncos need Jakobi Meyers

Meyers is not an elite receiver by any stretch, but he's a very good No. 2. He has posted 800 yards or more in a campaign four times, including his first 1,000-yard season in 2024.

It's important to point out that Meyers, who has one of the best pairs of hands in the league, has posted those showings with lackluster quarterback situations. Going to the Steelers, Bills or Broncos would give Meyers the best quarterback he's had since Meyers played with Tom Brady during his rookie season.

Meyers would be a clear upgrade for the Steelers, Bills and Broncos.

The Steelers don't have a sufficient No. 2 wide receiver for Aaron Rodgers behind DK Metcalf and could use more depth beyond that.

The Bills don't have any semblance of a No. 1 target for Josh Allen and the trio of Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer and Khalil Shakir has been disappointing overall.

The Broncos have some promising young wide receivers flanking veteran Courtland Sutton, but Denver could use another experienced weapon.

Meyers is sure to draw interest from several teams ahead of the deadline, and we would expect the Broncos, Steelers and Bills to be among them.
