Sting has been confirmed to play a spin-off headline concert before the Super Bowl.

The NFL’s landmark game is set to take over San Francisco for the championship-deciding match on February 8th, 2026, which has now got even bigger with the addition of Sting.

It was previously confirmed that Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny will headline the halftime show, and now, it’s been announced that Sting will play a Super Bowl event at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on February 6th, two days before the game.

His upcoming intimate performance in San Francisco is part of an event named Super Bowl LX Studio 60, which the NFL says is part of “a weekend of unforgettable music entertainment at one of San Francisco’s most iconic venues”.

The announcement comes following a backlash to Bad Bunny being named as the headliner, with a recent study by Quinnipiac University finding that 63 per cent of Republicans are against the decision.

However, Jay-Z, who plays an important role in booking artists for the Super Bowl, has stood by Bad Bunny, telling TMZ, “They love him. Don’t let them fool you.”

The most notable critic of Bad Bunny is Donald Trump, who said of the booking during an appearance on Greg Kelly Reports, “I’ve never heard of him. I don’t know who he is.”

He also said: “I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment – I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson is another vocal critic, who responded to the booking by saying, “In my view, you would have Lee Greenwood, or role models, doing that. Not somebody like this.”

Bad Bunny laughed off the backlash during the premiere of Saturday Night Live earlier this month, telling viewers, ‘I’m very happy. And I think everyone is happy about it. Even Fox News.”
