“It Has Never Quite Worked Out”: New York Giants OT Evan Neal On the Trade Block Before the…

The New York Giants drafted Evan Neal with the seventh overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft from the Alabama Crimson Tide. At the time of this selection, there were a lot of people who were praising the selection for this football team.

However ever since then, Neal has not panned out well for the Giants. He has been injured and has performed poorly. Neal has not played in a game during the 2025 NFL season with the Giants. There is no doubt that he has been labeled as a bust for New York. With him not being in the long-term plans for this football team, is there any chance that this team will trade him before the NFL trade deadline?

NFL Insider Believes That the New York Giants Could Potentially Trade Evan Neal Before the Trade Deadline

East Rutherford, NJ — August 24, 2024 — Evan Neal of the Giants before the game. The New York Giants and New York Jets meet at MetLife Stadium in the final preseason game of the 2024 season for both teams.

There are Giants fans who would love to see some players dealt for draft picks before the trade deadline. Neal has barely played and if he can be traded for a draft pick or something that would be great. Well, Dan Graziano of espn.com was asked who is one under the radar player who could potentially be traded before the NFL trade deadline? Graziano said,

“Giants offensive lineman Evan Neal. He has played tackle and guard for the Giants, but it has never quite worked out. He’s only 25 years old and was the No. 7 pick in 2022, so the talent is there. He’s eligible for free agency at the end of the season and doesn’t seem to be in New York’s long-term plans. Almost everyone is looking to add offensive line depth this time of year, and there doesn’t seem to be much reason for the Giants not to move Neal if they were offered a pick.”

New York tried to play him at guard during the preseason. Maybe if Neal were to be traded elsewhere, he can revive his career. If that ever happened, then the Giants developmental system is broken beyond repair. Even if they got a fifth or a sixth-round pick back for him, it would be better than just letting him sit on the bench and get nothing for him.
