The Belgian became the sixth Chelsea legend to be inducted, alongside Petr Cech, John Terry, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba, and has received an engraved medallion marking his induction and a £10,000 donation made by the Premier League to any charity of his choice.

“I grew up playing football for fun with my brothers in the back garden, but my dream was always to play at the highest level,” Hazard said after receiving his medallion.

“It means a lot to join the Premier League Hall of Fame. I’m very proud to join this group of players, and I think we could make a good squad!

“I just wanted to have fun on the pitch and entertain the fans who bought tickets or watched on TV. Being recognised in this way is special for me and my family. My parents were both footballers, and now my children love the game too.”

Hazard joined Chelsea in 2012 after being named a two-time Ligue 1 Player of the Year during his time in Lille.

In his debut season, he scored nine Premier League goals, introducing himself to English football as he was included in the top flight’s Team of the Year. He also claimed his first silverware in blue, helping Chelsea to a Europa League triumph.

Hazard was the Premier League’s best player of the 2010s, as the Belgian was lightning quick and could dribble.

Across his seven years in England, between 2012 and 2019, he attempted (1,441) and completed (909) more dribbles than anyone else in the Premier League, while in Chelsea’s title-winning 2014/15 season, Hazard completed 180 dribbles, the second-highest tally ever recorded in a single campaign by Opta.

Hazard also created more chances (595) and was fouled more times (638) than any other player across those seven seasons, plus he was named Premier League Player of the Year in 2014/15 and was in the PFA Team of the Year four times.

More impressive still, he was the official Player of the Match in 62 of his 245 league games, an astonishing 25 per cent of the games he played. Only Harry Kane has won that award more in Premier League history.

The former Chelsea man made 245 appearances, scoring 85 times and providing 54 assists in the Premier League during his seven-season stay at West London.

His 352nd and final appearance came against Arsenal in the Europa League final. The Belgian created a goal for Pedro and scored twice to take his tally for the Blues to 110 in all competitions.

Hazard was included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year on four occasions, cementing his legacy before he departed to Real Madrid after seven seasons at Chelsea, during which he also won the Premier League twice, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the UEFA Europa League twice.
