The Detroit Lions are building a tremendous roster with head coach Dan Campbell leading the way, and one of the franchise’s most important defensive players will seemingly be with the NFC North team for many years to come after agreeing to a new deal this week.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed Wednesday that the Lions have agreed to give star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson a four-year, $180 million contract that features a massive $141 million guaranteed in the deal. The amount of guaranteed money was reported by Hutchinson’s agent Mike McCartney.

This season, the Lions have one of the top records in the NFL as they currently sit 5-2 on the year. Hutchinson’s involvement has been crucial to Detroit’s defensive revitalization after posting six sacks in the Lions’ first seven games of the year.
The 25 year old has become a fan favorite with the franchise after the local Michigan player was selected by the Lions in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Hutchinson has remained in Michigan for most of his football career after also starring with the Michigan Wolverines under head coach Jim Harbaugh.
