ESPN insider predicts Steelers will trade for coveted 329-yard wide receiver

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a lot of needs to address ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline, and one of the biggest ones is at wide receiver.

The DK Metcalf trade has proven to be a successful one thus far, as his connection with Aaron Rodgers is strong. But, just like last year, the Steelers don't have an adequate No. 2 option for their quarterback.

While it remains to be seen who will be available at the trade deadline, the Steelers need to bring someone in who can make an impact and won't be Mike Williams 2.0.

Las Vegas Raiders wideout Jakobi Meyers fits the bill and ESPN's Jeremy Fowler predicts Meyers will end up in Pittsburgh.

"Pittsburgh is keeping tabs on (Meyers) but is prepared to be patient, too. If I had to predict a destination right now, I'd say the Steelers," Fowler wrote.

Fowler adds that the Steelers are believed to be in the market for a wide receiver, which has been widely reported by several outlets.

When it comes to the chances of the Raiders trading Meyers, Fowler says teams he has spoken with believe there's a "decent chance" the veteran wideout gets moved.

"Teams I've talked to believe that Meyers has a decent chance to be dealt -- possibly the best chance among available wide receivers," the ESPN insider said. "Las Vegas has received interest in the seven-year veteran, and my sense is the Raiders want a strong pick for Meyers. A swap of Day 3 picks won't do at this stage."

The Raiders absolutely should trade Meyers, who is in the final year of his contract and is unlikely to be back in 2026 after the two sides failed to get an extension done.

The failure to do so even led to Meyers requesting a trade, and his stance on being dealt hasn't changed, as he revealed last week.

However, the Raiders are going to have a tough time moving him if their asking price doesn't go down.

As Fowler notes, a Day 3 pick swap isn't going to be enough to land Meyers, and Jordan Schultz reports that the Raiders are looking for at least a Day 2 pick.

Chances are the Raiders won't get that in return and the best the team can hope for is a fourth-rounder.

Don't get it twisted, Meyers is a good player, but he's not Day-2-pick-and-then-some good, and he's not second-round pick good, either. Not to mention, the fact that he may only be a rental will also hurt his trade value.

For the Steelers' purposes, Meyers would be perfect. He's an ideal No. 2 option in any offense after posting four 800-yard campaigns, and there's reason to believe he could reach new heights in Pittsburgh, as Rodgers would be the best quarterback Meyers has played with since he caught passes from Tom Brady in 2019.

If the price is right, the Steelers would be wise to pull the trigger and bring Meyers in to instantly upgrade their lackluster group of wide receivers.
