On-loan Barcelona star Iñaki Peña has admitted that he is hopeful of continuing his career back in Catalunya’s capital down the line.
Shot-stopper Peña for his part departed Barcelona over the summer, linking up with newly-promoted Elche on a season-long loan.
Ahead of his parent and loan clubs locking horns in La Liga this weekend, the 26-year-old therefore sat down for an interview with **[Diario Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/inaki-pena-gustaria-volver-barca-123116100)**.
During as much, Peña was drawn on a whole host of topics, from his former teammates in Hansi Flick’s squad to life in Alicante and beyond.
Another question put to the talented Spaniard, as alluded to above, surrounded his plans for the future.
Asked ‘would you like to return to Barça next season to fulfil your contract?’, Peña appeared very much open to the prospect:
”Any player wants to be where he has been happy, where he has been all his life and with that goal I did it. That’s how the club transmitted it to me, who saw that it was an important step for me to leave, to have continuity, to feel important. Then you never know, football goes around a lot but obviously any player who is asked if he wants to go to Barça or not… 99.9% would say yes. And even more, having been at La Masia for so many years, then obviously yes.”
