The Atlanta Falcons didn't have the services of quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and wide receiver Drake London in Week 8 thanks to injuries.
Penix was sidelined for the game against the Miami Dolphins due to a bone bruise in his knee and London didn't suit up because of a hip injury.
Of course, their absences didn't do the Falcons any favors, as they were promptly throttled by the lowly Dolphins with Kirk Cousins under center.
Thankfully, it appears the arrow is pointing up for Penix and London in Week 9. Tori McElhaney of AtlantaFalcons.com reports that both players are expected to take part in the team's walkthrough on Wednesday, which is a positive sign.
"Michael Penix Jr., Drake London are both in the building, in meetings, will go through walkthrough and the Falcons will see where they're at during indoor practice, per Raheem Morris," McElhaney relayed.
Head coach Raheem Morris, who labeled Penix as day to day, added that the young signal-caller "feels better than he did last week" and feels "really good" about Penix's chances of suiting up on Sunday against the New England Patriots.
The Falcons will release their first injury report of the week later in the day, so we'll know more about both players then.
There wasn't as much info in that report for London as there was for Penix, but the wideout figures to be in a better position to play than his quarterback, as London clearly was close last week as a game-time decision.
Both players were sorely missed.
At this stage in his career, it's very apparent Cousins is not better than Penix, so that was a downgrade.
When it comes to Atlanta's backups at wide receiver, nobody stepped up and that led to tight end Kyle Pitts trying to throw the passing attack on his back, which proved unsuccessful.
Sitting at 3-4, the Falcons' margin for error is getting smaller. Getting Penix and London back will obviously help their cause.
