Once again, the Bears are heading toward a game not knowing who will be playing quarterback against them.
Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco is in jeopardy after suffering a sprained AC joint in his right, throwing shoulder late in the loss to the Jets on Sunday. He finished that game, but, especially at 40, it’s unclear whether he’ll available Sunday when the Bears visit Cincinnati.
They went through the same thing last week when the Ravens gave indications that two-time MVP Lamar Jackson would be returning from injury for their game only to rule him out the day before and go with Tyler Huntley.
If Flacco can’t play, the Bengals likely would start backup Jake Browning. He had a 70.5 passer rating in three starts this season, throwing eight interceptions, before the team bailed on him and traded for Flacco three weeks ago.
The Bengals lost starter Joe Burrow to a toe injury in Week 2, and he is on injured reserve.
Flacco had a 60.3 passer rating in four starts for the Browns to start the season, but has been much better in his three games with the Bengals: 64.3 completion percentage, seven touchdown passes, no interceptions, 261.3 yards per game and a 100.1 passer rating.
