Titans QB, No. 1 draft pick Cam Ward alleged victim of Jefferson Parish fraudsters, Jpso says

GRETNA, La. (WVUE) - Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft, was financially victimized by two alleged scammers from Jefferson Parish, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday (Oct. 29).

Albert Weber, 42, and Cyntrelle Lash, 39, were arrested in May on allegations of identity theft, bank fraud and forgery in connection to Ward, a former University of Miami star. They are accused of fraudulently obtaining more than $250,000 in loans in a scheme that allegedly victimized Ward, the player’s father and the business that provided the loans.

The arrests were first reported by The Guardian, which said Weber denied involvement to a reporter and suggested he was unfairly accused after someone else falsely assumed his identity.

Capt. Jason Rivarde of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office told Fox 8 the cases against both defendants remain open, and that Weber has been uncooperative and has not provided a statement to its detectives.

Court records show Weber is charged with identity theft, bank fraud and two counts of forgery. The Harvey man is scheduled for a Nov. 4 court appearance after his attorney withdrew from the case on Oct. 6. Records show Weber has had previous arrests for alleged child desertion and extortion.

Lash, who according to court records is from Metairie, has a December court appearance scheduled. She was booked with identity theft, bank fraud and monetary instrument abuse, along with two outstanding warrants, records show.

According to Rivarde, Weber and Lash began working together in March to secure several loans worth at least a combined $250,000 in Ward’s name. Weber even posed as the quarterback’s father Calvin Ward at least twice to sign notarized documents in person to secure the loans, Rivarde said.

The JPSO arrested Weber and Lash together on May 16 at a shopping center in Harvey.

Calvin Ward told The Guardian he learned from investigators that someone had placed two liens against his fully paid-off home in Texas as a result of the scheme. Those liens have since been released, he told the news outlet.

Court records also show that JPSO deputies seized a 2018 Bentley from Weber after his arrest. Weber has filed a motion seeking the return of that vehicle as he awaits trial, but no ruling on that request has been made.
