Seahawks Sign RB Velus Jones To Practice Squad; G Christian Haynes Returns To Practice

Guard Christian Haynes has been designated for return to practice after spending the first eight weeks of the season on injured reserve.

Haynes, a 2024 third-round pick, opened camp competing for the starting job at right guard while also seeing time at center, but was sidelined by a pectoral injury that led to him being placed on injured reserve.

The Seahawks also made a change to their practice squad on Wednesday, signing running back and kick returner Velus Jones. Running back Myles Gaskin was released to make room on the practice squad.

Jones, a third-round pick out of Tennessee in 2022, was the SEC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2021 after totaling 628 kick return yards and a touchdown as well as 272 punt return yards. In the NFL, Jones has appeared in 34 games with two starts playing for the Bears, Panthers and Saints, rushing for 165 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries while adding 135 receiving yards and a touchdown on 12 catches.

As a kick returner, Jones has 48 returns for 1,244 yards with a long of 62, including eight returns for 183 yards for the Saints this season.

Gaskin, a former University of Washington standout, signed to Seattle's practice squad earlier this month.
