Dominic Solanke has failed to make his mark under Thomas Frank this season as he recovers from an ankle injury. Time is running out for the Englishman to impress Frank, with the Lilywhites considering cashing in on him before it’s too late.

The Brazilian has not built on his bright start to the season and continues to struggle with the basics in front of goal. The Lilywhites appear ready to move on from both Richarlison and Solanke after the pair failed to make a lasting impression this season. The North London club are keen to bring in a forward capable of making an immediate impact as they aim to build on last season’s Europa League success.
Recent reports have linked Spurs with Juventus striker Jonathan David. The Canadian forward has struggled to establish himself in Turin despite joining the club in the summer, and there are growing doubts around the Allianz Stadium over his ability to lead the line for the Bianconeri. This situation has reportedly caught Tottenham’s attention as they search for a reliable goal-scorer to strengthen their attack for the second half of the campaign.
However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Bayern Munich are also “seriously” considering a move for David in January. Vincent Kompany is already looking to replace Nicolas Jackson as the Bundesliga champions aim to make a statement in Europe this season. This could force Spurs to accelerate their pursuit of the 25-year-old after missing out on him in the summer.
While Jonathan David may not have hit the ground running at Juventus, there is no doubt about his quality. The Canada international was a key figure for his former club Lille, where he scored more than 100 goals and developed into one of Europe’s most consistent finishers. It’s likely only a matter of time before he rediscovers his scoring touch. Signing him would give Spurs a new dimension in attack and would undoubtedly represent a major upgrade on both Solanke and Richarlison.
