Chelsea move to sign player to new deal–Increasingly important at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea want to extend Malo Gusto’s contract at the club, believing that he is becoming increasingly important for the club.

That’s [according to RMC Sport](https://rmcsport.bfmtv.com/football/transferts/un-salaire-en-adequation-avec-son-nouveau-statut-chelsea-veut-prolonger-malo-gusto-de-plus-en-plus-solide-chez-les-blues_AN-202510290648.html), who report that Chelsea are seemingly keen to offer Gusto a contract extension. This new deal would include a pay increase to reflect the defender’s changing status at the club.

Gusto has quietly developed since his arrival in 2023. He is now firmly established in Enzo Maresca’s first-team plans.

And according to RMC’s information, Chelsea’s management now hope to extend his contract. They will also offer him a significant pay rise alongside that.

They see Gusto as a key player long-term. He’s increasingly been a part of Maresca’s plans after initially being overshadowed by Reece James. The pair are now regularly rotated by the Italian manager instead.

His increased playing time and performances seem to have convinced everyone at Chelsea. The coaching staff are big fans of him, as is the dressing room. And Chelsea’s management want to lock him down.

Discussions are already underway on that front. That’s despite his current deal running until 2030 anyway. It would be a one of two-year extension to that deal.
