Both Liverpool and Trent Alexander-Arnold might be regretting their choices right now.
The Reds’ title defence sort of feels over already, which is an astonishing thing to say given that it is only October.
However, poor performances have left them far behind the likes of Arsenal, with the summer of turnover now looking like it was a bad idea.

One player that many believe Liverpool miss is Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the creativity in the team certainly lacking.
The scouser himself may also regret leaving his boyhood club too, with life for him in the Spanish capital not quite being how he imagined just yet.
So, with both parties struggling, that begs the question: Could Trent Alexander-Arnold ever return to Liverpool?

Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘struggles’ to adapt at Real Madrid
No matter how bitter Liverpool fans may be, there is no denying just how good a footballer Alexander-Arnold was for the club, with the right-back truly one of a kind.
He brought creative flair from full-back and drove the team forward with his passion, something that has been missing since he left.

It is also clear that he has not had the best start to life in Madrid, with the Englishman not a regular in Xabi Alonso’s side, nor has he played particularly well when given the chance.
And according to Spanish outlet Marca, they report Alexander-Arnold ‘struggles’ to adapt to what his manager has been asking him and still feels unsettled at the club, suggesting he might not last there much longer.
If he does opt for a move, his options may be limited as a return to the Premier League might seem best for him due to the familiarity of it, with Liverpool surely the only club he would consider going to?

The Reds have also had a big problem at right-back, so it would make sense, but based on how he left, fans may have very strong opinions about it.
Do Liverpool even need Trent Alexander-Arnold?
‘Trent’ had a creative output like no other full-back, so it is obvious that Liverpool would miss this part of his game.
However, he was always questioned defensively, and with this being an area the Reds have struggled with at the start of the season, it would suggest he would not be able to help that.
Having players like Florian Wirtz were also meant to make up for the output in the final third, but things have just not clicked yet.
When they do, though, then Alexander-Arnold may not be missed as much as he perhaps is now, suggesting a homecoming might not be the best thing to consider.
