Report: Leeds City Council spot problem in Elland Road plans which Leeds United are now working on

Leeds United are hoping to expand Elland Road.

The stadium redevelopment plan will be put to the Leeds City Council in a meeting on Thursday, before the panel decide whether or not to green light the proposal towards the end of November.

Leeds Live believe Leeds United are feeling optimistic – but those involved have been forced to address a late issue before a judgement is made.

Leeds United told to revise the transport blueprint

The Whites hope to eventually turn Elland Road into a 53,000 seater stadium.

However – with a current capacity of 37,890 – that will undoubtedly put a huge amount of strain on transport services, so like most clubs with ambitions of a stadium expansion, Leeds are required to show how they will handle the extra 15,110 people attending.

Leeds Live do not make clear what exact details are in the club’s transport blueprint, but it is said that some members of the Leeds City Council are not satisfied, and have asked for the plans to be revised ahead of the meeting on Thursday.

It is stressed that Leeds – who want Haji Wright – are now working on the transport blueprint to amend the problems, suggesting they are in agreement with the pushback and do not plan to contest it.

Leeds still have plenty of support

By the sounds of it, there aren’t any other problems for Leeds besides the transport blueprint.

Leeds Live add that the proposal generally has a “wide” range of support, but there is a strong desire to ensure proper transport plans are in place – an understandable stance considering Leeds hope to bring an additional 15,110 fans to Elland Road.

Getting that wrong will unquestionably cause chaos in the city on matchdays, and make the experience a miserable one for fans who have attended for years as well as newcomers.
