Former Aston Villa director of football Monchi is set to make his debut as a commentator this weekend.
[That’s according to Mucho Deporte.](https://www.muchodeporte.com/sevilla-fc/87333/monchi-debuta-como-comentarista-en-el-atletico-de-madridsevilla/) They say the former Aston Villa chief will be on comms for Atlético de Madrid vs Sevilla on Saturday.
Monchi left Aston Villa at the end of September. He was later replaced by Roberto Olabe but will remain a consultant for his former club.
He made it clear he was leaving to focus his efforts on hometown club San Fernando, who he has helped to save from disappearing this summer. They’ve formed under a new name and been relegated down the divisions as a new club, with him at the helm.
The Spaniard has been commenting ever since then, giving various interviews about his situation, jobs in future and Aston Villa as well. Now it seems he’s turning his hand to commentary.
Mucho Deporte, relaying information from Cadena Cope, report that Monchi has an agreement with DAZN. He’ll be ‘offering his opinions’ on Sevilla, his former club, in the clash with Atlético. He’ll also provide analysis of the match and Sevilla’s performance in particular.
He’s insisted in recent weeks he doesn’t want to be the centre of attention. But his appearances in the media remain frequent, to say the last. Aston Villa should perhaps beware he doesn’t end up commentating on their games before too long as well.
