The San Francisco 49ers pulled off their first significant trade of the 2025 NFL season, acquiring pass rusher Keion White from the New England Patriots.
With Nick Bosa out for the year, White should help a banged-up pass rusher unit overcome Bosa's injury and the other injuries lingering in the room.
But that's not the only move the 49ers are expected to make. According to ESPN NFL insiders Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano, John Lynch and the 49ers are staying active and aggressive in trade talks even after acquiring White.
ESPN insiders report the 49ers are 'aggressive' in trade talks even after the Keion White deal
"I'm feeling confident they'll do something beyond what they've already done," Graziano reports. After landing White from the Patriots, Lynch isn't done adding to the 49ers roster. "The 49ers have remained aggressive," Fowler added.
Bosa's injury isn't the only pass-rusher problem for the 49ers. Bryce Huff, who's had a solid year back with Robert Saleh, has an injury and has already missed some time. Yetur Gross-Matos, Alfred Collins, Jordan Elliot, Sam Okuayinonu, and Tarron Jackson make up just part of the injured 49ers defense.
Fred Warner is also done for the year, adding off-ball linebacker to the 49ers' needs at the deadline. While the defensive backfield has been spared from injuries, the rest of the defense is in dire need of help.
But defense isn't the only area that the 49ers could address. With Brock Purdy and Mac Jones banged up, a quarterback might be in the cards if either suffers a setback or further injury in Week 9.

But the wide receiver room is something that the 49ers could look to address. Ricky Pearsall has been hurt for a while, Jauan Jennings is dealing with multiple injuries, and Brandon Aiyuk is still recovering from his ACL tear from 2024.
Kendrick Bourne has been good for the 49ers, and while the other receivers are expected back or are playing through injury, the 49ers could still look to add a receiver at the deadline.
Regardless of what position the 49ers are looking to address, Lynch and the 49ers are expected to remain aggressive through the trade deadline.
After adding White, the 49ers helped bolster their pass rusher room, but still have needs to address on the roster to be viewed as serious contenders. With less than a week to go until the deadline, the 49ers are expected to remain active in talks.
