Barcelona fan favourite will be out for 1-1.5 months due to thigh injury – report

FC Barcelona confirmed earlier today that key midfielder Pedri had suffered a thigh injury and will be out of action.

The 22-year-old fan favourite did not train with the group today after feeling discomfort, and tests revealed an injury that will keep him out at least until the next international break.

Initial reports suggested that he could be out for 4-5 weeks, but soon after, it was claimed that the midfielder was staring at a three-week recovery period.

A month out for Pedri

However, now, it appears that the initial timeline might have been accurate, as, according to AS, Pedri is likely to be sidelined for a month to a month and a half.

If so, it will come as a major blow for Barcelona as their key midfielder might not return immediately after the international break.

As things stand, Pedri will miss the Elche game, for which he was already suspended, as well as the matches against Club Brugge and Celta Vigo.

Barça take on Athletic Club on 22 November, right after the international break, before facing off against Chelsea in a high-profile UEFA Champions League encounter.

Should Pedri be out for a month or more, his availability for those games will also be in question.

Considering the number of injury problems that Barcelona have already had this season, the situation is quite concerning for Hansi Flick & co. And the technical staff will be eager to look into the root cause of the problems and take measures to prevent further setbacks.
