Megan dropped her latest single “Lover Girl” on Friday. The song was a love letter dedicated to Megan’s boyfriend, Dallas Mavericks player Klay Thompson. The couple made their relationship public in July this year. Megan used parts of the classic 1990s R&B track “Kissin’ You” by Total for the song. The music video features stylish looks and romantic Cupid-themed visuals.
Megan launched her career in 2016 and gained immense popularity with her 2019 hit “Hot Girl Summer.” Since then, she hasn’t looked back. Among the controversies in her personal life, the 2024 incident with her personal cameraman Emilio Garcia drew public outrage.
Megan Thee Stallion says Klay Thompson never calls her the ‘b-word’ in her newly released song ‘Lover Girl,’ with lyrics stating, ‘My n***a say, “My lady,” he never say, “My b**ch ”/Some n**as make excuses, he make that sht exist.’ 👀❤️

While former employee Garcia sued Megan for an “abusive work environment” and “sexual harassment.”
However, Megan’s lawyer Alex Spiro denied the claims at that time. “This is an employment claim for money – with no sexual harassment claim filed and with salacious accusations to attempt to embarrass her. We will deal with this in court.” he toldNBC News.
She is still being criticized one year after the incident because not everyone loves her new track. Critics slammed the lyrics for being too basic and off-brand for the typically hard-hitting rapper.
A handful of people pointed to her past relationship drama, specifically cheating allegations involving her ex-partners.
Social Media Goes Off After Lyric Surfaces
The backlash picked up steam when fans dissected lyrics where Megan calls Thompson “my n—-” while praising him for calling her “my lady” instead of using other terms. The contradiction didn’t sit well with social media.
Here is the entire line that is making chaos on social media. The song includes, “My n—- say, ‘My lady,’ he never says, ‘My b—-‘ / Some n—-s make excuses; he makes that shit exist.”
The reactions came fast and brutal.
“Ain’t that the n***a she cheated on multiple times?” one userfired off, mixing up her current and past relationships.
Anotheradded, “So why is she allowed to call him ‘my n***a’ but it’s not ok if he says ‘my bitch’? Black people cannot think logically.”
A third commenterjoked, “He calls her my lady. She calls him my n***a. True black love. Hilarious.”
One critic simplynoted, “Her music is all trash.”
The fifth onepredicted, “This relationship will not last.”
The most pointed comment came from a user whoadded, “All these threads gonna be so funny when y’all start attacking Klay after they break up.”
Megan clapped back during an Instagram livestream, claiming much of the hate comes from paid bots and trolls. “People get paid to talk crazy about me,” shetold supporters. “Don’t it seem weird how overwhelming the Megan Thee Stallion hate seems?” She urged fans to ignore the noise and keep bumping “Lover Girl.”
Whether the backlash is organic or fabricated, Megan’s relationship with the four-time NBA champ has everyone talking, for better or worse.
