Jakobi Meyers landing spots: Bills, Steelers top best potential fits for Raiders WR at trade deadline

The Las Vegas Raiders bet high on Geno Smith heading into the 2025 season, shelling out $75 million to land the two-time Pro Bowler.

They haven't enjoyed a very strong return on investment thus far. Pete Carroll's side is 2-5 through its first seven games, rooted firmly at the bottom of the AFC West.

Smith, meanwhile, has fallen short of expectations, tossing a league-leading 10 interceptions.

Smith's toils have altered the shape and tenor of Las Vegas' season, and it has some believing the Raiders could be sellers come the trade deadline.

If Las Vegas were to express a willingness to part ways with its most coveted assets, Jakobi Meyers would fetch plenty of suitors. The 28-year-old remains one of the league's better pass-catchers. And although things haven't gone to plan for the Raiders thus far, Meyers' quality continues to shine through.

So, just where could Meyers end up if he were dealt before next Tuesday's trade deadline? Here are some sides that could attempt to land his services.

Jakobi Meyers landing spots

Buffalo Bills

Everything the Buffalo Bills have accomplished in the two seasons — another AFC East title, another AFC Championship berth and what looks to be another postseason appearance — has been done without a marquee pass-catcher.

That's not to say Buffalo's wide receivers are bad. Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid have each made a marked impact in Sean McDermott's attack, while James Cook is as formidable an option as they come when it comes to snagging passes out of the backfield.

Nevetheless, the Josh Allen-led passing unit could use some reinforcements as it attempts to fend off the New England Patriots to secure its sixth-straight divisional crown.

Meyers doesn't have the resume of some of the league's best wideouts. But he's one year removed from tallying 1,000 yards — a feat no one on Buffalo's roster has matched.

The Bills carry Super Bowl aspirations each time they step on the field. Why not improve their chances by landing a player capable of anchoring the WR room from Day 1?

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers stand all alone at the top of the AFC North thus far. Aaron Rodgers' tenure has largely been a success — the veteran signal-caller has thrown for 1,489 yards and 16 touchdowns on 68.3 percent passing.

The arrival of Rodgers and D.K. Metcalf in the offseason signified that Pittsburgh views itself as something of a contender in 2025. Mike Tomlin's side has been exonerated for its belief so far. But the AFC North remains a fickle bear. The Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens remain in contention, with the former sitting one game back following Joe Flacco's resurgence and the latter getting star QB Lamar Jackson back.

The pressure is on to add to pieces to Pittsburgh's collection. And although securing defensive help remains paramount, the powers that be in Acrisure Stadium have also discussed the prospect of bringing in another WR, according to The Athletic's Diana Russini.

Meyers, with his versatility and explosiveness, could represent a strong foil for Metcalf, Pittsburgh's unquestioned No. 1. If that can keep the Steelers ahead of their divisional rivals, the move would prove a worthwhile one.

Denver Broncos

Quiet as it’s kept, the Denver Broncos are riding high atop the AFC West. For how long, though, remains to be seen.

Their place at the top is under threat; both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers are hoping to leapfrog them in the coming weeks. But for now, Bo Nix, Sean Payton and Denver are winning games in spite of a less-than-ideal WR room.

Courtland Sutton is the No. 1. Marvin Mims Jr. is a formidable No. 2, although he was recently placed in concussion protocol, suggesting a spell on the sidelines could be on the horizon. If that were to happen, Denver would have to rely on rookie wideout Pat Bryant. That isn’t an inspiring statement.

Meyers would likely be at his best as a No. 2, sharing duties behind a gifted pass-catcher. Sutton’s presence ensures that if Meyers were to arrive in the Mile High City, he would do so without the surveillance typically afforded to him as a No. 1. That only figures to amplify his impact on the passing game.
