Commanders' Terry McLaurin injury update is major surprise news for Week 9 vs. Seahawks

Terry McLaurin just got back.

But the Washington Commanders' star wide receiver is injured again.

He's been ruled out for Week 9, head coach Dan Quinn told reporters.

McLaurin re-aggravated his quadriceps injury during the Commanders' Week 8 game.

He was off to a great start in the matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. First, he caught a touchdown by waiting on his tip toes along the end zone sideline. Then, he made a fantastic diving catch down the left sideline at full extension.

But by the fourth quarter, McLaurin was on the sideline.

The star still had his helmet on, but he wasn't taking the field.

ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters shared on the broadcast that McLaurin had trainers examining his quadriceps.

McLaurin had missed the four preceding games with his quad injury. But in the lead-up to Week 8, he had gotten full practices in, and he didn't have an injury designation.

Clearly, this is a worsening of the injury that had already gotten better.

On the one hand, it's good to know McLaurin can heal up from it.

On the other hand, the fact that McLaurin got re-injured in the same way this quickly doesn't seem like a good sign for his rest-of-season outlook.

For now, the Commanders will have to figure out how to play without McLaurin in Week 9 against the Seahawks. Figuring out the plan shouldn't be that hard, because they've already done that plenty this season.
