The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets have reportedly agreed to a trade.
According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Eagles are trading wide receiver John Metchie and a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Jets for cornerback Michael Carter and a 2027 seventh-round pick
"TRADE: The Eagles are sending WR John Metchie and a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Jets for CB Michael Carter II and a 2027 seventh-round pick, sources say," Russini reported.
This trade helps out both teams.
The Eagles have been in the market for a cornerback thanks to their shaky situation opposite Quinyon Mitchell. Now, Carter gives them another option to fill that hole.
Meanwhile, in New York, the Jets have been bitten by the injury bug at wide receiver. Garrett Wilson missed Week 8 with an injury and Josh Reynolds was recently placed on injured reserve.
Now, Metchie gets a chance for a bigger role after being buried.
It'll be interesting to see how the Eagles go about deploying Carter, who is primarily a slot cornerback.
Cooper DeJean operates primarily out of the slot in Philadelphia now, although he could definitely bounce outside. That figures to be the approach the Eagles will take, but that has yet to be confirmed.
