How Chelsea fans at Molineux reacted to Jamie Gittens'first-half display against Wolves - journalist

Wolverhampton Wanderers are Chelsea’s opponents in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, and they could not cope with Jamie Gittens and Co in the first half of their tie.

The Blues are close to bouncing back from their shock 2-1 defeat to Sunderland at Stamford Bridge last weekend, with Gittens largely to thank.

The winger terrorised Wolves’ defence in the first 45 minutes of the match, setting up his side’s first two goals.

Ajax could not handle Gittens last week either, so Vitor Pereira’s men are not the first team to struggle against the England Under-21 international.

Chelsea fans enjoyed Jamie Gittens’ first-half display at Molineux

Unsurprisingly, Chelsea supporters were pleased with Gittens’ showing in the first half of the Blues’ Carabao Cup tie against Wolves.

In fact, according to journalist Simon Johnson, the away fans at Molineux really enjoyed what they saw from the 21-year-old.

Before Chelsea’s trip to Molineux, Gittens had provided just one assist in his first 10 matches for the Club World Cup winners. Against Wolves, he registered two in just 15 minutes, taking his opportunity in the cup game.

While cup competitions can have their benefits, giving players such as Gittens a chance to shine, the Premier League and finishing in the top four will be Chelsea’s priority this season.

And following the league defeat to Sunderland, Chelsea analysts have been watching games from last term where the team also lost to a back five.
