The Los Angeles Rams and Cleveland Browns could both use more offensive line help ahead of the trade deadline.
The Rams need another tackle with Rob Havenstein banged-up, and it wouldn't hurt to add more competition at center for Coleman Shelton.
The Browns could use more help all over, and planning for the future at guard with Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller both in a contract year isn't a bad idea, either.
One player to keep an eye on at the trade deadline is Las Vegas Raiders offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson, who is stuck in a weird situation.
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox named the Rams and Browns as two potential trade suitors for JPJ if he becomes available.
While his early 2025 campaign hasn't made a positive impact on Powers-Johnson's trade value, his upside is tremendous. He won the Remington Trophy in 2023 and was widely viewed as a top NFL prospect.
The Raiders were on bye in Week 8 and may believe they can turn things around over the second half of the season. They don't believe in Powers-Johnson, though, and should move him to a team that does.
Potential Suitors: Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams
Powers-Johnson was a second-round pick of the Raiders in 2024 and had an impressive rookie campaign while playing snaps at guard and center.
It was assumed he would take over the starting role at the latter spot in 2025 after the team parted ways with Andre James.
However, the Raiders shockingly went with Jordan Meredith instead. Meredith had played even less snaps at center in the NFL than Powers-Johnson did and doesn't have the kind of upside the Oregon product does, so that was a head-scratcher.
Then, the Raiders surprisingly had JPJ compete with veteran guard Alex Cappa for one of the starting guard spots, even though Cappa was clearly the inferior player.
Powers-Johnson won that competition, but he has been benched multiple times since then despite how bad Cappa has been.
It's true Powers-Johnson is having a bit of a down season, but not to the point that he shouldn't be on the field. A promising young offensive lineman like JPJ should be getting as many snaps as possible, plain and simple.
It sure seems like the Raiders don't like the second-year offensive lineman with how oddly they've handled him, so it's not crazy to think he could be traded.
For the Browns, Powers-Johnson would offer a long term-solution at one of their guard spots and would also allow Cleveland to trade Teller or Bitonio at the deadline.
For the Rams, Powers-Johnson would offer more competition for Coleman Shelton, as well as a possible multi-year solution upfront.
The Raiders would be dumb to trade Powers-Johnson, but then again the Raiders do dumb things, as evidenced by their handling of the sophomore lineman.
If they made JPJ available, teams would be lining up around the block to acquire a promising player who has two more years left on his rookie deal.
